Pasta Sisters Food Truck will be doing a collaboration with Downtown L.A.’s ilcaffeĚ on Saturday, October 24 and Saturday, October 31 from 4 to 9 p.m. to bring an evening of pasta and cocktails for a socially-distanced weekend evening out. Pasta lovers can order freshly made pastas from the Pasta Sisters food truck and sip on cocktails from ilcaffeĚ’s menu like the Aperitivo, Rose Spritz or Strawberry Bellini.

Poutine Brothers, the L.A.-based poutine food truck and delivery restaurant by Chris and Matt Urakami, is teaming up with Mike’s Hot Honey for a limited-time Nashville Fried Chicken Hot Honey Poutine available on October 20 for pickup Tuesday – Saturday 4:30 – 8 p.m. at 9626 Venice Blvd, Culver City.

The chicken poutine features hand-cut fries, Wisconsin white cheddar cheese curds, Nashville hot chicken and homemade brown gravy topped with chives and served with Mike’s Hot Honey. Order online at poutinebrothers.com. The dish is currently available until October 17 for Off-the-Menu members before launching for a limited time to Angelenos on October 20.

Long Beach Creamery has a new Ruth Bader Ginsburg-inspired ice cream on the menu. The Honor Ruth ice cream is based on RBG’s favorite dessert, Frozen Lime Souffle, made for her by her late husband Marty Ginsburg. The ice cream is a citrusy, organic vanilla-based flavor complemented by fresh lime curd and lime meringue cookies and will help raise funds for ACLU SoCal. The late justice Ginsburg volunteered with the ACLU beginning in the 1960s and later joined as the founding director of its Women’s Rights Project. In addition to all proceeds of the sale of the ice cream going to ACLU SoCal, Intertrend is giving away 200 scoops of any flavor (100 in Long Beach Creamery’s downtown location; 100 in its Bixby Knolls location) to customers who prove they voted on Election Day.

Dunkin’ is celebrating Halloween all month with some hair-raising  new offerings including:

  • NEW Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut – A deliciously daring donut that delivers the heat with every bite, the Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut is a classic yeast donut ring, topped with a strawberry flavored icing that features a bold blend of cayenne and ghost pepper, and finished with red sanding sugar for a sizzling look. The Spicy Ghost Pepper Donut will be on the menu for only a few hot minutes, available beginning today for a limited time at participating Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide until December.
  • DIY Donut Kits (Boo It Yourself) – While trick-or-treating may not be happening in a traditional sense this year, why not treat the kids to a sweet, “Boo”-It-Yourself Halloween themed DIY kit. From scary to silly, let your imagination run wild for treats that are cuter than any packaged candy. Each kit will feature plain, yeast, or Old Fashioned cake donuts, with pre-packaged icing in orange, white and black varieties, and three sprinkle blends. The Halloween DIY Dunkin’ Donut Decorating Kits are available for purchase in two sizes, small (4-count donuts) and large (9-count donuts). Available now.
  • Dressed-up Donuts – Humans wear costumes for Halloween, so why can’t donuts? Starting today, and for a limited time only, participating Dunkin’ locations will carry Halloween decorated donuts. The creepy-crawly Spider Donut is back – a frightfully delicious Spider Donut features a classic ring donut with orange icing, topped with a glazed chocolate MUNCHKINS® donut hole treat, chocolate drizzle for the spider legs, and white icing for the eyes to create the sweet eight-legged donut creature. Guests should be on the lookout for spiders, ghosts and cobwebs.

Chado Tea will be hosting a Tea Tasting Event: Be Healthy, Drink Tea by Dr. Mary Hardy on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 5 – 6 p.m. The event will feature an online discussion (via Zoom) surrounding the health benefits of tea and herbal infusions.

Those interested can visit www.chadotea.com or one of the four Chado LA tea rooms to purchase a sampler pack of teas (three 2 oz. teas, $15 bundle; free shipping) – sample teas include Sencha Arihara, Turmeric Comfort, and Hawaiian Cocktail – which will be tasted during the online event. Dr. Mary Hardy will go through the data and explain just how much is fact and fiction about the health claims surrounding how good tea is for the body and mind. It’s free to register, and tea sampling bundles are available now online or at one of the L.A. tea rooms (DTLA, Torrance, Pasadena, Hollywood).
