Elderly Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Interstate 5

BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 10, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, Rudy Luna Perez was killed in a pedestrian crash on Highway 166.

According to reports, officers responded to the incident around 2:30 a.m., near Highway 166 and Interstate 5.

Investigators later determined that the driver of a 2016 Kia struck a man who was walking in the traffic lanes for unknown reasons. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the male pedestrian lying on the road.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, paramedics later pronounced 63-year-old Perez, of Selma dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the male driver remained uninjured.
