20-Year-Old Man Killed in Head-On Crash on State Route 97 in Toppenish

TOPPENISH, WA (May 6, 2021) – 20-year-old Rudy Flock was killed Thursday afternoon in a deadly two-vehicle collision on SR-97 in Toppenish.

The incident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on April 29, on State Route 97 at milepost 51.

According to reports, Flock was driving south on the highway when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with another vehicle.

Responding officers arrived and pronounced Flock dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics rushed all three occupants of the other vehicle, including a 4-year-old boy, to Yakima Valley Memorial hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

Furthermore, officials said the southbound lane was backed up for miles for at least three hours following the wreck.

At the moment, the reason behind the crash is still unknown. However, authorities are currently investigating the fatal collision.
