59-Year-Old Victim Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident near El Monte Avenue

EL MONTE, CA (March 29, 2022) – Tuesday evening, Ruben Vicario died in a hit-and-run crash on Lower Azusa Road, authorities said.

According to El Monte Police, the crash occurred around 9:00 p.m. on March 22 near El Monte Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Per reports, the driver of a passing vehicle hit 59-year-old Vicario in the area. However, the exact circumstances that led to the incident are still unclear.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced Vicario dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition.

Police could only say that the hit-and-run vehicle they’re looking for is a red or burgundy 2019 to 2021 Toyota sedan. Anyone with information was urged to call the El Monte police at 626-580-2100.
