Dennis RomeroWhen you're the mayor of a notable, West Coast city, it's probably wise not to be affiliated with a meth dealer.
But cops today said they arrested 44-year-old Ruben Guerrero at the home he shares with his wife, Montebello Mayor Christina Cortez. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department allege Guerrero was in the business of methamphetamine sales and that he did this near a school:
Guerrero was arrested as he left the mayoral home in the 1500 block of Los Angeles Avenue about 7:10 a.m. today, deputies said.
Cops had arrived to serve a search warrant there as well as at a nearby location connected to the investigation, in the 1600 block of Los Angeles Avenue, when the husband was collared, according to a sheriff's statement.
Guerrero was booked on suspicion of “sales of methamphetamine” and “sales of narcotics near a school,” the department stated.
Deputies were careful to point out that ” … no one else at the locations where the search warrants were served has been implicated in the sales of narcotics.”
Guess that would mean the mayor.

The suspect was jailed in lieu of $60,000 bail, cops said.
In January it was reported that Montebello City Councilman Frank Gomez filed a restraining order against Guerrero after the latter allegedly made criminal threats of violence against the politician.
And that doesn't sound like a meth-related story at all.
