58-Year-Old Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by Big-Rig near Highway 3

TRINITY COUNTY, CA (August 8, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, a motorcycle crash on Highway 299 claimed the life of Rosann Vincent Nelson.

The incident happened around 3:21 p.m., just east of Highway 3 on August 4th. The crash involved a motorcyclist and a Peterbilt logging truck.

According to California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was riding east on Highway 299, when she veered into the opposite lane directly into the path of an oncoming logging truck.

The truck driver was unable to avoid a collision, and struck the rider. Upon impact, the rider became trapped underneath the truck.

Emergency responders  pronounced 58-year-old Nelson dead at the scene. In addition, the driver of the logging truck was not hurt.

Crews closed the surrounding area for about two hours during cleanup and investigations.No further details regarding the collision have been released to the public. However, more information will be provided once made available.
