59-Year-Old Man Dead after a Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision near Acoma Drive

PHOENIX, AZ (May 23, 2023) – Early Tuesday morning, police responded to a collision that claimed the life of Ronnie Crnkovic. The incident happened on May 9th, at around 5:30 a.m., near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Acoma Drive. According to the Phoenix police, the collision involved a vehicle driven by Crnkovic and a pickup truck. Investigation showed that Crnkovic was stopped at the intersection when the pickup truck traveling on 35th Avenue struck him from behind. The pickup truck then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim. After officers arrived at the scene, they found Crnkovic with serious injuries and transported him to a local hospital for treatment. There, medics pronounced 59-year-old Ronnie Crnkovic dead, due to the extent of his injuries. Meanwhile crews shut down the area surrounding the intersection for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, officials have not released any more details regarding the suspect involved in the fatal hit-and-run.
