60-Year-Old Man Killed in Rollover Accident near Fort Cady Road

SAN BERNARDINO, CA (December 1, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, Ronald Matson was killed in a car crash on Interstate 40.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 2:05 p.m., near mile marker 27 in Newberry Springs.

Per reports, the driver of a black Nissan SUV lost control on the westbound lanes of I-40. As a result, the Nissan overturned multiple times near the center divider before landing back on its wheels.  

Paramedics arrived and declared one person dead at the scene. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s coroner division later identified the deceased victim as 60-year-old Ronald Matson, from Winchester. 

Meanwhile, another occupant was airlifted by Mercy Air to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. 

No further details have been released to the public. San Bernardino Officials will provide more information once available.
