38-Year-Old Man Killed in Fatal Wrong-Way Collision near Jackson Street

INDIO, CA (June 1, 2021) – 38-year-old Ronald Cook was killed Thursday morning after a deadly wrong-way collision on Avenue 42.

The incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m., May 27, on Avenue 42, just west of Jackson Street.

As per reports, Cook’s car collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck while he was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Avenue 42.

Following the initial crash, a vehicle traveling behind the truck then collided with it.

Medics rushed Cook to John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead several hours after the crash. His passenger was also seriously injured and was taken to the hospital.

Additionally, several other people involved in the collision were treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to officials.

The accident forced the closure of the Avenue 42 and Jackson Street intersection for several hours while authorities investigated and cleared the scene.
