Lancaster Resident Killed in Pedestrian Collision near Palmdale Boulevard

PALMDALE, CA (May 11, 2022) – A pedestrian crash on SR-14 claimed the life of 44-year-old Rolando Navarro, Thursday morning.

The accident happened around 4:55 a.m., on the southbound lanes of the freeway, just south of Palmdale Boulevard.

According to California Highway Patrol, Navarro was standing in the center divider when for reasons unknown, he crossed the traffic lanes. The oncoming driver of a 2017 Toyota Corolla could not stop in time and struck the pedestrian.

Authorities responded and immediately pronounced Navarro dead at the scene.

Meanwhile the Toyota driver, 38-year-old Diego Hernandez of Palmdale, did not leave the scene and called 911 after the collision.

Following the investigation, police did not consider drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
