27-Year-Old Passenger Killed in Big-Rig Collision near Lt. John C. Helmick Roadside Rest Area
CORNING, CA (January 11, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Rohit Rekhi was fatally struck in a semi-truck crash on Interstate 5.
The incident happened around 2:11 p.m, near the “Lt. John C. Helmick” Roadside Rest Area on December 24th.
According to reports, 30-year-old Sukhraj Aulkh was preparing to park a southbound 2017 Kenworth truck. For reasons unknown, a passenger inside the truck, Rekhi, jumped out of the moving vehicle and was run over by the rear wheels.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced 27-year-old Rekhi, of Woodland dead at the scene.
Following preliminary duties, police do not believe that DUI played a factor. Although, an active investigation is still currently underway.
