Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 80 Kills 37-Year-Old Man
PINOLE, CA (November 19, 2021) – 37-year-old Roger Valdez Jr. died Monday morning in a two-car crash on Interstate 80.
The accident happened about 12:05 a.m. on I-80 westbound lanes, just east of the Pinole Valley Road exit.
According to the CHP, Valdez Jr. was a passenger in a Saturn car when they were rear-ended by a Hyundai Genesis.
At the time of the collision, there were three people in the Saturn. Tragically, Valdez who at the time, sat in the right-side rear passenger seat died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver and a passenger in the Saturn’s front seat sustained minor injuries.
CHP added that the two occupants of the Hyundai did not have any significant injuries.
According to authorities, the incident occurred in foggy weather, and the Hyundai was perhaps driving too quickly for the conditions.
Pinole police are still investigating the fatal collision on Interstate 80.
