Man Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Sexton Road

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, CA (July 11, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, Rodney Blanco was fatally struck in a big-rig collision on Highway 120.

According to authorities, the collision happened around 2:00 p.m., just west of Sexton Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

For reasons unknown, Blanco was driving a westbound 2022 Ford when he crossed into oncoming lanes. There, Blanco collided with a 2008 Peterbilt big-rig.

Upon impact, the Ford spun counterclockwise and came to a stop on the north shoulder of Highway 120. The big-rig driven by a 39-year-old Riverbank man continued in an easterly direction across the right shoulder, stopping on the south shoulder of Highway 120.

Responding officials declared 67-year-old Blanco, of Sonora dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the big-rig driver remained uninjured.

At this time, San Joaquin County Officials are still working to identify the circumstances surrounding the collision.
