A man in a vehicle intentionally ran over two men in an apparent gang-related car attack in the Byzantine-Latino Quarter, killing one and injuring another. Rocky Lopez, 46, and another man were struck as they walked along the street in the 2800 block of West Pico Boulevard around 4:15 p.m. March 23.

Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where Lopez was pronounced dead. The condition of the second victim is unclear.

The suspect, believed to be about 24 years of age, was taken into custody on the roof of a nearby home after being chased by police. He was injured during the police chase and is apparently in stable condition at a local hospital.
