Rockin with Dokken: The relationship between Dok Dokken and former guitarist George Lynch has been fractured for years. Indeed, Lynch found some success in his own (very dubiously named) Lynch Mob but Dokken fans have always called for a reunion. Occasionally, they got their way.

We spoke to Don Dokken back in 2017, just after a few reunion shows with Lynch in Japan. He told us: “We played in Japan with George, but that was a one-time thing. Five shows. Never say never, but as far as right now, I’m not planning more shows with Jeff and George. There’s no point. They all have their various projects. It just happened to be a moment in time when the stars aligned. Plus Jon [Levin] is an underrated monster.”

But here we are in 2021, and Dokken are playing two shows at the Whisky alongside Lynch. After a bunch of openers, Lynch will perform a set then Dokken will do the same, then an encore performance will see them on stage together again. AWWWWWW!!!

Sometimes we play arenas to 30,000 people, sometimes 5,000 people, 1,000 people — honestly, there’s no difference,” Dokken said in 2017. “We always play the same show. It doesn’t matter how many people. We’re not playing stadiums anymore — that’s about all that’s changed. The fans are still kind and love our music. It’s not about money anymore. If you’re an artist, you paint paintings. You don’t stop. I keep singing.”

Rockin with Dokken: The shows take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 17 and Saturday, December 18 at the Whisky A Go Go.
