Thanksgiving could turn out to be another one of those red-letter days because the Sagittarius sun and retrograde Mercury meet to enlighten you about past history. Then Mercury retreats into Scorpio for a few days, before turning direct on the 3rd. Sunday is full of potential wonderfulness; generous Jupiter's gift of good fortune and Uranus' altruistic, humanistic vibe perfect their first supportive trine in over four years. However, on Monday, the sun squaring Uranus can indicate another earth-shattering disaster. Where's your emergency kit? By Thursday, hope springs eternal once again as the optimistic Sagittarius sun joins the Sag moon to make new-moon merriment.

Aries

Friendship and finances. That's the leitmotif of the Aries week. The friend, or a group of like-minded folks, is represented by unpredictable Uranus; the financial situation, particularly if it involves other people's money, by the Sagittarius sun. On Monday, as the creative sun squares chaotic Uranus in Pisces, all hell could break loose. You'll figure out a way to put the relationship back together after the Sag new-moon cycle kicks in on the 1st if you focus on the ethical implications rather than the monetary value.

Taurus

Mercury retrogrades back into your Scorpio complement this weekend, so if an “oldie but goodie” ex hasn't appeared yet, now would be the time. Surprises pop up all over the place whenever disruptive Uranus is unleashed. As our workweek ends, you may hear about an offer you probably shouldn't refuse, but if it doesn't originate with the Corleones, ask for more time to consider it. Say until adventurous Mars in your sign turns direct on the 9th and confronts protective Jupiter in Scorpio at least one more time. Mid-January?

Gemini

After so many retrograde periods, by now it should be obvious that the days just before and after your Mercury ruler changes direction are the ones when things go kerflooey. So, knowing that Mercury will flip on the 3rd, it makes sense to reconsider whatever outrageous action you're tempted to take during the sun square to idiosyncratic Uranus. Being original is one thing, certifiable is another altogether. Meanwhile, the Sagittarius new moon on the 1st can initiate an entirely new round of meetings with potentially significant partnerships.

Cancer

Every new moon gives the Moon Child the opportunity to change the tune that's been playing in your head for the past month. Say a fond farewell to the refrain you've been listening to or, perhaps worse, humming over the Thanksgiving weekend. After the comedic Sag sun and moon merge on the 1st, you shouldn't be surprised if the silly love song you channel turns out to be Monty Python silly. Anything to defuse the growing tension generated by the imminent face-off between militant Mars and expansive Jupiter.

Leo

Restless Lions usually welcome the dramatic action generated when your sun ruler makes a “hard” aspect to the “outer” planets. But when that planet is kooky Uranus and it's bordering on your house of other people's money (e.g., a check you've been waiting for), then the result of their challenging square might not be as liberating as you anticipate. Also, because the creative force of the sun coupled with the destructive urge of Uranus often indicates earthquake activity, you should probably stick to safe and sane choices until the Sagittarius new moon has kicked in.

Virgo

Sagittarius can be a tricky time for Virgins, who want to enjoy stability and tradition during the holidays rather than be subjected to the insecurity and/or excitement of a “go with the flow” sensibility. Depending on how drastically the sun's difficult square to Uranus in your Pisces house of partners affects your relationship, that flow could be headed straight down the toilet. Before you pack your bag, remember that any decision made before your retrograde Mercury ruler turns direct on the 3rd will likely be revised.

Libra

Retrograde Mercury in your money house may transmit the wrong information, return a bank deposit or otherwise contribute to annoying, but minimal, mistakes in your balance sheet. You could wait until Mercury faces forward on the 3rd before addressing the issue or, better yet, assume that the Sagittarius new moon on the 1st will introduce something fun that you'd prefer to do. It's a seesaw kind of week with beautiful wild things showing up when you least expect them, trailed by authority figures waving their traditional safety nets. The choice is yours.

Scorpio

Once the turkey and leftovers are gone for good, your prospects for personal growth and financial gain can improve considerably. Having freewheeling Jupiter in your sign will present opportunities that at first may seem like too much of a risk. But after your ballsy Mars co-ruler faces Jupiter next weekend, that feeling could vanish. If you don't want to jump on the offer right away, you should know that you'll have another turn after Mars comes out of retrograde in two weeks. One more in mid-January.

Sagittarius

You may feel you're in the clear after retrograde Mercury backs out of your sign on Saturday, but it'll be back December 12, refreshed, revised and rarin' to mess with your mind and machines. This week, what you have to contend with are the contradictory responses you'll get when the Sagittarius sun is provoked by revolutionary Uranus, only to be rewarded by the Saturnian power elite a few days later. Centaurs usually support ideas that lead to a better future, but, despite the new cycle the Sagittarius new moon initiates, tried-and-true could get your vote.

Capricorn

The usual holiday nuttiness and confusion can throw the other signs into a tizzy, but even though Mercury retrograde may be making things worse, you'll be cool. Caps, while not oblivious, could overcome the disruptions and disturbances the sun creates this weekend simply by staying the course. Your reward arrives next weekend just as Mercury shifts into forward gear. Look to an organization, perhaps only a few compatible colleagues, for a favor, courtesy of the sun's trine to your Saturn ruler, that'll benefit you and your partner. Long-lasting and ego-boosting.

Aquarius

Don't hold your breath. Mercury retrogresses back into your Scorpio midheaven on Saturday, so news about a career move or your employer's current state of mind will probably change after Mercury goes direct on the 3rd, and then exits Scorpio for the second time on the 12th. Feel free to fill the time in between with fantasies of how you'd spend the best Christmas ever – don't forget the sugarplums. But first deal with the problem exacerbated by the sun's challenging square to your Uranus ruler on Monday. A wake-up call.

Pisces

You should know that a devil-may-care approach may get you into serious trouble if you decide to assert your independence while the sun tests idiosyncratic Uranus in your sign. On the other hand, the upside of their provocative square aspect could be the catalyst that'll persuade you to change your image. Ours is an interesting week, particularly for Fish born in February. Isn't there an inheritance coming your way? Maybe some investments you want to shift around? Prosperous Jupiter, your old pre-Neptune ruler, intends to reward you for being whatever you wanna be.
