Is it just us, or is underground hip-hop kind of, you know, happening again?
The Rock the Bells festival, now in its third year, has taken the place of the
defunct Smokin’ Grooves tour — at least for lucky SoCal fans — as a summertime
gathering for the conscious/groovy types, and this year’s lineup, a real East-West
love-in, is impressive. Besides local heroes such as Visionaries, The Living Legends
and Cut Chemist, master wordsmith Nas will perform, as well as Redman, Ghostface
& Raekwon, Sage Francis, Hieroglyphics, legendary DJ Q-Bert, Guru of Gang Starr/Jazzmatazz,
Supernatural, mash-up guru DJ Muggs, Oh No et al. Special guest hosts will include
B-Real of Cypress Hill, RZA of Wu-Tang Clan, and Mr. Choc of Power 106 and Beat
Junkies.

Saturday, July 30, at Nos Events Center, San Bernardino. For more info, visit
