Short-notice self-promotion: West Coast Sound editor Randall “Lil Edit” Roberts will be spinning at The Far Bar in Little Tokyo tonight (Sunday) with DJ Mona Lisa (aka Lisa Turallo, longtime Drag City Records publicist and band manager). It'll be nice, on a quiet patio at the back end of an alleyway between two buildings. It almost feels New Orleansian back there. We'll play music, and there will be art, and, best, all proceeds for the $5 suggested donation event go to the Midnight Mission organization in downtown LA, which helps the area's homeless population.

In my record bag so far: B-52s, The Harder They Come soundtrack, James Brown, Laid Back's “White Horse,” Eno/Byrne, the Fall, Tav Falco, MGMT, Diplo, Ann Peebles. More. All vinyl. And The Far Bar has great wasabi fries.
