26-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Two-Vehicle Collision near Hill Street

LONG BEACH, CA (February 1, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, Roberto Rodriguez was killed in a wrong-way crash on Magnolia Avenue.

The fatal incident happened around 4:00 a.m., near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Hill Street.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a Hyundai was traveling north in the southbound lanes at a high rate of speed. As a result, the Hyundai struck an oncoming Toyota Camry, driven by Rodriguez.

Upon impact, the Toyota was pushed into multiple parked cars. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the driver, 26-year-old Rodriguez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics took the male Hyundai driver to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Authorities have not yet released his identity.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor. Although, an active investigation is still currently underway.
