79-Year-Old Man Killed in Two-Car Accident near Lee Street

TUCSON, AZ (November 21, 2022) – Friday night, Robert Paul Willie was pronounced dead after a 2-car crash on Alvernon Way.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m., at the intersection of North Alvernon Way and East Lee Street.

Investigation showed that 79-year-old Willie was traveling southbound on Alvernon in a 2005 Honda Civic. As Willie attempted to turn left onto Lee Street, a 2015 Kia Optima collided with him.

As a result, Willie suffered injuries and crews from the Tucson Fire Department took him to Banner – University Medical Center. Two days after the crash, Willie passed away on November 6th.

Following preliminary duties, both drivers showed no signs of impairment. Meanwhile, police have stated that failing to yield right-of-way was a factor. Although, an active investigation is currently underway.
