Two-Vehicle Crash on 710 Freeway Left Montebello Man Dead

LONG BEACH, CA (November 29, 2021) – 68-year-old Robert Nunez died after a two-vehicle accident on 710 Freeway Friday evening.

The crash happened at 11:45 p.m. of November 12, along southbound 710 Freeway near 9th Street.

According to reports, Nunez traveling northbound in his 1996 Toyota 4Runner when he unknowingly crashed into a freeway guardrail then into the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer.

Consequently, rescue teams extricated Nunez from his vehicle. Afterwards, medics rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

However, eventually, Nunez succumbed from his injuries on November 13.

Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer driver, a 23-year-old Bakersfield resident, escaped unscathed.

CHP ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact L.B.P.D. Collision Investigation Detective Joseph Johnson at (562)570-755.

At this time, investigators are trying to find out if speed played a role but an active investigation is underway.
