Porterville Man Killed in Two-Car Crash on Union Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 8, 2022) – On Friday, 47-year-old Robert Joseph Rivas lost his life after a two-car crash at California Avenue.

The accident occurred around 4:53 a.m., June 3rd at Union Avenue and California Avenue.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, for unknown reasons a sedan and a pickup truck crashed at the intersection.

Authorities identified the pickup driver as Rivas, a 47-year-old Porterville resident. Tragically, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the other driver sustained minor injuries according to reports.

It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash at this time. However, an active investigation is currently underway.
