69-Year-Old Bicyclist Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision near Manning Avenue

REEDLEY, CA (January 12, 2022) – Bicyclist Robert Holguin died Monday night in a hit-and-run on Alta Avenue, authorities reported.

According to the Fresno County Sherrif’s Office, the crash occurred around 6:55 p.m., near Manning Avenue in the east side of Reedley.

Per reports, 69-year-old Holguin was riding his bike southbound on Alta Avenue when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. The driver then took off without providing aid or calling for help.

Despite life-saving efforts, crews pronounced Holdguin dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries.

In addition, witnesses said he was riding his bike in the proper lane but was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Police charged the driver of the vehicle with felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.
