Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Accident near California Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 30, 2022) – Thursday night, Robert Catrini was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash along Highway 99. 

The incident happened around 8:51 p.m., near the right shoulder of northbound 99 on November 24th. Dispatchers responded to the scene near California Avenue shortly after.

According to reports, a Honda CR-V, driven by 72-year-old Catrini, struck a pedestrian that was standing in the traffic lanes. The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Although, their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, Catrini stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the investigators. 

Following preliminary duties, the California Highway Patrol ruled out drugs and alcohol as a factor in the incident. At this time, Bakersfield Officials are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
