60-Year-Old Robert Borland Dead after Accident on I-80

ELKO, NV (November 8, 2021) – Monday morning October 25, 60 year-old Robert Borland, has died after a rollover incident in Elko.

The crash took place at about 4 a.m. on eastbound I-80 near mile marker 326 east of Elko.

According to preliminary investigation, a gray Nissan Xterra SUV was going east on I-80 when, for unclear reasons, it crashed.

For unknown circumstances, the driver crossed into the dirt median.

Furthermore, the driver overcorrected, sending the Nissan back over the eastbound lanes and onto the dirt shoulder.

Additionally, the truck would then fly through the air as it passed over a drainage culvert, coming to a stop upside down.

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and unfortunately died at the scene.

The fatal accident is under active investigation.
