Multi-Car Accident on Highway 101 Prompted Road Closures

SANTA BARBARA, CA (November 23, 2021)  A multi-car accident on Highway 101 closed all southbound lanes of the highway on Thursday.

The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. November 18, on Highway 101 near the Milpas Street ramps.

According to the CHP, they responded at the scene and found multiple vehicles involved in a collision, though the events that led to the crash are unknown.

Rescuers had to remove at least one person who trapped in one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

Officials have not yet revealed the total number of victims or their names. CHP shut down the road for several hours to allow for clearing operations, however it has since reopened.

Police did not release any additional information at this time. However, the accident remains under investigation.
