Ripley Rader, the American-made clothing brand, has announced it will be celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day on March 8th with the launch of its long-awaited Spring 2 Collection. In keeping with the company’s mission, Ripley Rader will donate 10% of its sales to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), a charity that helps individuals who are victims of sexual violence. The initiative is part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to empowering and uplifting women.

The brand was founded by its namesake, a fashion designer, creative director, and entrepreneur who started designing clothes when she was 12 years old. Her contemporary clothing brand has been featured on the TODAY show and worn by celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Amy Schumer, and Sandra Oh. Ripley Rader is proud to call herself a feminist and an advocate for women’s empowerment,  and she believes in creating clothes that make women feel confident and powerful.

Ripley Rader stands with RAINN

International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of women, while also highlighting issues such as gender inequality, reproductive rights, and violence against women. The organization RAINN was a natural choice for Rader’s philanthropic aims, as she has been a long-time supporter of the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization.

The charity operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, which offers support to survivors in the US and works to prevent sexual violence and educate people in the area. It also helps people recognize the signs when someone could need support.

Doing Her Part

For the Los Angeles-based designer, fashion is not simply clothing, it’s armor for everyday life. Her mission of empowering women is reflected in the brand’s inclusive sizing and her commitment to making women feel as good as they look. What she discovered through building Ripley Rader is that conversations about clothing as armor and protection – lends itself to a larger discussion of what we can do to help other women. This is what drove her to donate 10% of the Spring 2 launch sales on March 8th (International Women’s Day) to RAINN: Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network.

In an exclusive interview, founder and CEO Ripley Rader expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s International Women’s Day. “This brand solely exists because multiple women were willing to take risks on me to start the company, and we’ve stayed in business because women continually show up for us,” she said. “We would not be here if it weren’t for women, so it means everything to me.”

There’s nothing more fundamental to Rader than women feeling celebrated and recognized. She firmly believes in recognizing not only women’s achievements, but the unpaid labor of motherhood, the struggle to balance work and family, as well as all the women pursuing different and equally important paths. In Ripley Rader’s world, International Women’s Day is  a yearlong event.

Investing In The Future

The creative director’s contribution extends beyond her fashion brand– Ripley started a non-profit leadership camp called Camp Rocky Road, a program that inspires, challenges and celebrates young women.  She also has a podcast called ‘Younger but Wiser’, which celebrates young women’s wisdom through a series of interviews. Ripley’s desire to foster leadership skills in young women is a cause that drives her, and she believes that investing in future generations is the thing that will save us.
