Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Accident near Lockett Road

FLAGSTAFF, AZ (March 25, 2022) – Late Thursday night, 45-year-old Riley Belone was killed in a pedestrian collision on East Route 66.

The incident occurred around 11:01 p.m., near Lockett Road. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to reports, the driver of a Chevrolet truck accelerated while heading west on East Route 66. Suddenly, the driver attempted to avoid a collision and ended up striking Belone.

The driver involved in the crash reported changing lanes to the left lane and was unable to avoid Belone in the left lane, who was crossing E. Route 66 from the south sidewalk.

Belone was transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center for emergency care and was later pronounced deceased. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Meanwhile, no other injuries were reported.
