King Tut might rise from his fake tomb at the Egyptian Theatre, but Right Said Fred will not be dancing on his head. Richard and Fred Fairbrass were scheduled to perform “I'm Too Sexy” live during the King Tut's Tomb Halloween spectacular on Saturday night in Hollywood.

An email directly from Fred reveals that “unfortunately due to circumstances outside of our control we had to cancel our trip to LA.” He also sends kind regards. Kind of a bummer. All the karaoke, wedding, school dance, car ride, elevator, and shopping encounters with “I'm Too Sexy” well up to the surface now, spreading over the years like honey on bread.

Even T-Pain knows that in 1991, “I'm Too Sexy” got the entire world shaking its “little tush.” 1991 was a big year. Right Said Fred, Marky Mark, C & C Music Factory, EMF, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey and Amy Grant laid the foundation for many karaoke catalogues. LL Cool J had a comeback on “Mama Said Knock You Out” and R.E.M. connected with people on “Losing My Religion.” It was also a year for serial killers. Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested with 11 bodies in his apartment and Aileen Wuornos confessed to six murders for love (see Monster). The beating of Rodney King was caught on video. Ren & Stimpy debuted on Nickelodeon. Freddy Mercury and Magic Johnson announced they had AIDS. And the invention making this compendium possible, Tim Berners-Lee announced the World Wide Web project.
