Traffic Crash on Eastbound Interstate 580 Closes Major Lanes

CASTRO VALLEY, CA (July 1, 2022) – On Wednesday, one rider died in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 580, police said.

The accident took place around 7:22 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580 on June 29th, per initial reports.

Furthermore, according to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle and a dump truck collided under unknown circumstances.

Eventually, paramedics arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. However, officials are yet to release the name of the rider pending notification of kin.

Meanwhile, the crash resulted in a road closure for a brief time but all lanes on the freeway reopened around 9:00 a.m.

Authorities are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fatal crash at this time.
