Motorcycle Accident on South 56th Street Kills 40-Year-Old Rider

TACOMA, WA (August 26, 2021) – A 40-year-old man died tragically in a motorcycle accident on South 56th Street on Sunday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to a traffic collision on South 56th Street around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 22.

According to the Tacoma Police Department, the rider was speeding east on South 56th Street when a BMW sedan made a left turn onto South J Street and collided with the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist died at the scene as a result of the impact of the collision. Authorities withheld the victim’s identity until his next of kin were notified.

Following the incident, the WSP closed a portion of South 56th Street for several hours.

Authorities did not release any additional information at this time. However, the cause of the accident and factors involved remain under investigation.
