One Motorcyclist Injured in U-Haul Collision on Hartnell Avenue

REDDING, CA (April 12, 2022) – Friday afternoon, one rider was hospitalized following a motorcycle crash on Cypress Avenue.

The incident happened around 3:22 p.m., at the intersection of Cypress and Hartnell Avenue. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

For reasons under investigation, the driver of a U-Haul van rear-ended a motorcyclist. The impact ejected the rider from the bike onto the road before he was dragged along the pavement.

Medical personnel arrived and located the severely injured motorcyclist underneath the front of the van. Crews then brought him to a hospital for treatment of a possible fractured leg. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Officers shut down the surrounding area for several hours as officials cleared the scene. At this time, the California Highway Patrol has no other information about the second driver and their current condition.

Meantime, Redding police continue to investigate the motorcycle crash on Cypress Avenue and will release updates once available.

If you’re behind the wheel, pay full attention to the road and your surroundings. Do not engage in any non-driving activity, which creates a potential distraction. You can help prevent an accident by abiding by all traffic laws and observing safety precautions.
