Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after Fatal Crash near McClintock Drive

TEMPE, AZ (August 25, 2023) – Early Monday morning, one rider was fatally struck in a motorcycle accident on Loop 202. Authorities responded to the scene just after 5:00 a.m., near McClintock Drive in August 21st. Per reports, a vehicle was disabled in the HOV lane. A motorcyclist was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle. The impact of the crash ejected the rider from the motorcycle onto the road. The driver of a passing car then struck the downed rider. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released his identity. Emergency crews arrived and closed off the westbound lanes of the freeway during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened around 9:00 a.m. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
