Motorcyclist Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Lake Park Avenue

OAKLAND, CA (July 11, 2022) – Early Monday morning, one rider was pronounced dead following a motorcycle crash on Highway 580.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:00 a.m., just west of the Lake Park Avenue over-crossing. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Per reports, an eastbound Dodge pickup-truck approached the motorcyclist who was resting on the second lane without its lights on. Consequently, the pickup failed to stop in time and struck the motorcyclist.

Upon impact, the rider was ejected into the traffic lanes and was struck by an oncoming SUV.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Although, their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, both occupants of the SUV and the Dodge pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with police. At this time, Oakland Officials continue to investigate the Highway 580 motorcycle crash.
