26-Year-Old Hospitalized after 2-Vehicle Crash near Stevens Pass Summit

STEVENS PASS, WA (November 28, 2022) – Friday, Richie Arroyo was hurt and Jon Kowalczyk was involved in a speeding collision on Highway 12.

The incident occurred around 8:52 a.m., about eight miles east of Stevens Pass summit.

Per reports, Arroyo was driving a 2015 Mitsubishi at excessive speeds when he lost control as he approached an oncoming curve. As a result, the driver of a white 2021 GMC was unable to stop in time and collided with the Mitsubishi.

Crews arrived and transported 26-year-old Richie Arroyo to Central Washington Hospital for further treatment. Officers also cited him for driving too fast for the conditions of the road.

The driver of the GMC, 62-year-old Kowalczyk remained uninjured.

Meanwhile, investigators closed off the surrounding area on Highway 2 for about two and a half hours.
