32-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed by Two Vehicles Near Hideaway Lake Road

VALLEY CENTER, CA (June 26, 2023) – Tuesday night, Richard Vaughn Dye Sr was fatally struck by two vehicles on Lilac Road. CHP officers responded to the collision around 8:30 p.m., west of Hideaway Lake Road. According to the report, a Dye Sr. was walking in the area when he crossed Lilac Road in a southerly direction. Consequently, the man was hit by a westbound Nissan Kicks driven by a 19-year-old woman. The impact of the collision sent the pedestrian directly into the path of a Dodge Caravan traveling behind the Nissan. Following the crash, the male pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene, despite the life-saving efforts of the paramedics. Authorities later identified the deceased victim as 32-year-old Richard Vaughn Dye Sr. Investigators are working to determine if drugs or alcohol contributed to the fatal crash.
