81-Year-Old Man Victim of Deadly Hit-and-Run in Niles District

FREMONT, CA (March 25, 2021) – Early Tuesday morning, 81-year-old Richard Plasch of Fremont, was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash on J Street.

Officers arrived at the scene around 6:00 a.m. in the intersection of J and 2nd Street. According to investigators, the man was walking his dog when he was hit by an unidentified driver.

Emergency personnel transported the man to a nearby trauma center, where his condition was determined to be critical. Due to the extent of his condition, Plasch died just a few days later in the hospital.

In addition, police later provided a summary of the two vehicles suspected of hitting the victim. The first sedan, a dark-colored minivan, and the second sedan, a gray or gold 1995-1999 Chevrolet Tahoe.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
