Rhondapolis, the annual New Year's Eve takeover of the Standard Downtown L.A. hotel by the promoters behind A Club Called Rhonda, has been canceled, organizers announced on Christmas Eve.

The third installment of the popular NYE party was to feature four stages and headliners Felix da Housecat, DJ Harvey, Jackmaster and XxXy. Rhonda also booked out all 207 rooms at the Standard for Rhondapolis attendees.

On the event's official website, organizers cited “unforeseen operational issues” as the reason for the last-minute cancellation, which they say was the Standard's decision, not theirs. “We regret any inconvenience and want to assure you this was decided upon after substantial consideration and with a heavy heart,” the message adds.

Attendees will automatically be refunded for their tickets, according to the website. It adds that “guests with room reservations will be contacted by the Standard.” A call to the Standard's reservation line confirmed that guests can either cancel and get full refunds or opt to keep their reservations, although the rooftop bar and SPiN, the second floor “ping-pong club,” will be closed on New Year's Eve. The lobby bar and 24/7 Restaurant will be remain open. 

It is not clear at this time whether the recent fatal shooting outside the hotel played any role in the decision to cancel Rhondapolis.
