Does anyone make better feel-good party music than Bob Marley? Throw this reggae great on the box and the vibe is instantly joyful and groovy, guaranteed. Usually we say don’t mess with perfection when it comes to sacred artists like the Mar, but a new disc called Roots, Rock, Remixed is an exception. Featuring remixes of classics like “Soul Shakedown Party” (Afrodisiac Sound System) and “Rainbow Country” (DJ Spooky), it’s an innovative, irie-stylee gem — and it’s the first remix record approved by the Marley family to be released in conjunction with Tuff Gong Records. Afro Funké has always been one of the best nights in town for reggae and world rhythms, so it makes perfect sense as the setting for this party. The Afrodisiac crew and Yes King (who contributed a sizzling — and respectfully smooth and unfettered — version of “Sun Is Shining” to the CD) will be on the decks for the occasion, along with the always soulful spinning skillz of Jeremy Sole’s Musaics. Rocky Dawuni hosts the night of One Love. Zanzibar, 1301 Fifth St., Santa Monica; Thurs., July 26, 9 p.m.-2 a.m.; over 21; more info at www.afrofunke.com.
