That's the choice this year when it comes to doing New Year’s Eve loud and proud. Those looking to boogie till the booty — or at least the ball — drops sure have a lot of choices. Here, eight ways to bring in ’08 — whether you wanna sex up, spazz out, look back or move forward.

The Future Is Now. Avaland always goes big. Big DJs, big production, big sound. The grandest groove night of the year will be no exception with electronic music masters Gabriel & Dresden, a “future-world” look and a “green” save-the-planet theme. Avalon, 1735 Vine St., Hlywd. www.avalonhollywood.com.

Last Dance. It was supposed to be Circus and Arena’s “last dance” literally, but the latest news is, the clubs are not being sold. Still, this discorama should be off the hook with both venues’ usual multiculti, polysexual mix. 6655 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd. www.circusdisco.com.

Bid Adieu at Les Deux. A 2,000-capacity tent will be erected near the fancy French-themed nightclub, with DJ Mike Palmieri, Kev E Kev and Groove spinning rock, pop and hip-hop, and Mickey Avalon doing the Jane Fonda as Travis Barker pumps up the tempo to cardio level. The party’s put on by the peeps from Kandyland at the Playboy Mansion, so expect a free-flowin’ open bar and plenty of whore-d’oeuvres. 1638 N. Las Palmas Ave., Hlywd. www.karmanye.com.

Beat It/Club 80s. In denial about how quickly another year flew by? Nobody lets you escape the reality of the ’00s and go Back to the Future like Beat It and Club ’80s. With new wave, metal and dance pop of the ’80s in the main room, and even two side rooms with modern hip-hop and electro, this one still can’t be beat. The Ruby, 7070 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd. www.clubbeatit.net.

Dollhouse. New Year’s Eve is kinda like Revenge of the Nerds, with homebodies comin’ out and goin’ wild, so this party in the streets featuring pocket-protector-sporting new-wave cover band The Spazmatics, plus the sounds of DJ Prophet, is the perfect place to let loose for guys and dolls of all ilks. Hollywood Blvd. & Vine St., Hlywd. www.dannybproductions.com.

Underground/Hang the DJs. A bit more intimate, but no less rockin’, especially for Brit-pop and indie-obessed twentysomethings, the two long-running dance nights’ shindig at the Echo features a slew of DJs (Scarlett, Larry, Dia, Clifton) and performances by Gram Rabbit and the Blood Arm. 1822 Sunset Blvd., Echo Park. www.clubunderground.net.

Masquerade Ball. The cool kids who don’t go downtown will definitely rock out at the Roosevelt Hotel, where Talib Kweli (Blackstar, Mos Def) performs and both Bloc Party and Rapture are slated to give DJ sets — though they’ll probably head to Hard afterward. Oh, and gobs of glitter makeup doesn’t qualify as a mask. 7000 Hollywood Blvd., Hlywd. www.trafficevents.com.

Hard/Giant Maximus/Together As One. A veritable downtown trifecta, these three events battle it out for the last of your hard-earned 2007 dollars with some serious dance-music talent. Hard is hippest, with Peaches, Justice, 2 Live Crew — and what we hear will be a VIP tent like no other (www.hardnye.com); Giant grandest, with Tiesto, MSTRKRFT, Z-Trip and circus attractions (www.giantclub.com); and Go Ventures’ Together As One the most old-school rave, with Sasha and John Digweed at the L.A. Sports Arena (www.newyearsevela.com).
