In 1977, Bing Crosby taped his final Christmas special in London, which, in typically bizarre 1970s fashion, included the ghost of Charles Dickens, musical numbers with Twiggy as Tiny Tim and the Artful Dodger, and Crosby's famous duet with Thin White Duke–era David Bowie on “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Peace on Earth.” Even more inexplicable was Bowie miming and singing his own “Heroes.” For the past two years, comedian Mike Still has been reincarnating the voice of Christmas in his not-so-faithful adaptation, A Bing Crosby Christmas Christ-tacular, at Upright Citizens Brigade. A cast of more than two dozen actors impersonating as-yet-unknown celebs will be dropping by to make merry music and drink cider (more like whiskey). Famous faces in Christmases past have included everyone from Judy Garland, Phyllis Diller and Jackie Gleason to Freddie Mercury, The Carpenters and Charles Manson. Last year, Still even got to do a dubstep version of “Silver Bells” with Skrillex. We hear Donny and Marie Osmond also made an appearance — and made out onstage. Poor Bing is turning over in his blue cardigan. Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, 5919 Franklin Ave., Hlywd.; Tues., Dec. 17, 11 p.m.; $5 in advance only. (323) 908-8702, losangeles.ucbtheatre.com.
