Westwood Village was once the Third Street Promenade of the Westside, bustling with independent restaurants and shops. Now you can find a Starbucks, Coffee Bean or California Pizza Kitchen on every corner. But there's a new kid on the block, and his name ain't Donnie Wahlberg. Glendon Kitchen & Cocktails, a local spot that will cater to Westwood locals and Westsiders, is opening on Glendon Avenue February 15.
Executive chef Nicholas Jacobs describes the restaurant/lounge design as reminiscent of the SLS Hotel lobby with shimmering chandeliers and plush couches, without the pretension. Furniture stylist Jessica Seynos, who decorated the Wilshire Restaurant and Huntley Hotel, will also be designing Glendon Kitchen. Jacobs, a graduate of the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, was discovered after he gave his girlfriend cupcakes to bring to a party. At first bite of the sugary morsels, entrepreneurs Adrian Selby and J Wolf proposed that Jacobs hop on board to join their restaurant venture. Also on board, Renee Faris, formerly of TLC Network TV show Cake Boss, who will head the breads and pastries while Jacobs cooks California bistro cuisine such as crab cakes, macaroni and cheese, steak salad, and (in the future) one of Jacobs' favorites, noodle kugel.

Glendon's catering service, G Spot, beginning in August, will deliver anywhere to anyone with a credit card, such as a street corner or library. The restaurant will open for dinner, and expand to brunch and lunch. There will be two nightly happy hours, with the bartender serving $5 dollar drinks at 5 p.m., $6 at 6 p.m., and $7 at 7 p.m. The second happy hour will begin at 11 p.m., featuring a $5 martini menu. Glendon Kitchen is located in the space where Cafe Moustache once was, down the street from Napa Valley Grille and Palomino. Entrees range from $13-$32.
