A new 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria will set up its wood-burning oven in Santa Monica this fall, just a little over a year after the first one opened its doors in Westwood Village. Slated for a 5,000-square-feet space at 120 Wilshire Boulevard, the latest outpost will feature a take-out area and a deli offering "hot and cold Italian sandwiches on pizza dough bread baked in the wood-burning oven" in addition to the pizzeria. Just as relevant to their guests, there will also be a parking lot with up to 90 spaces. (Editor's note: You try parking in Westwood, especially if you're really hungry. Right.)
Along with prepared food, the deli will carry a line of 800 Degrees products, including olive oil, dry pasta, cheese, and vinegars. This isn't the only expansion Adam Fleischman, Allen Ravert and chef Anthony Carron have in the works. The original pizzeria in Westwood Village will add a deli and takeout area as well; meanwhile, another location has already been confirmed at the Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX.
Named after the fahrenheit temperature reached by a specially-designed oven, 800 Degrees' signature is in giving diners ample room to customize their own personal Neapolitan pizzas and baking them fast -- at about a minute per pie. According to their own tally, 800 Degrees make between 800 to 1,200 pizzas per day, amounting to a quarter of a million plus pizzas in a year.
Westsiders will likely appreciate having a second location nearby, rather than face an ever-shifting set of peak traffic hours between Santa Monica and Westwood Village.
