Lilliana Carrillo, 30, was charged with the murder of her three children after LAPD found them dead inside a Reseda apartment.

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón announced the three murder counts against Carrillo, Monday, adding that Carrillo used a knife to kill her 6-month-old baby girl, along with her 2-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.

“Our hearts go out to the family of these children who are coping with this tremendous loss,” District Attorney Gascón said. “My office has reached out to the survivors to offer trauma-informed services during these incredibly difficult times.”

The alleged killings took place on Saturday, April 10, with Carrillo fleeing the scene afterward. A 9:30 a.m. call was made to LAPD for possible deaths and when first responders arrived at the apartment, the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the three children dead and a manhunt ensued.

Carrillo was ultimately found in Tulare County after allegedly stealing a silver Toyota pickup truck.

Carrillo confessed to drowning the children to keep them away from their father in a custody battle, according to an interview with KGET.

“I wasn’t about to hand my children off to be further abused,” Carrillo said.

An official cause of death has not been released as LAPD’s Juvenile Division continues its investigation.
