The Republicans are coming to Los Angeles next week. They must be from out of town because they'll be the only red dogs around these parts.

Which makes us wonder: Why the hell did they chose L.A?

They couldn't have picked a more hostile place to hold the Republican National Committee Spring Meeting (April 10 to 13 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel).

After all this is the medical marijuana capital of the nation, the home of the angry immigrants' rights protester, the American epicenter of powerful City Hall unions, a gay rights beacon and the place where porn is made — all things Republicans seem to hate.

Oh, and one out of every two of us in L.A. County is Latino.

Maybe the party is turning over a new leaf after its butthurt loss in the presidential election. Many have attributed its dire results to the party's stance on illegal immigration, which has been perceived as hostile toward Latinos, a growing voting bloc.

Perhaps the rich, white folks of the GOP want to dip their chips in some our diverse salsa. The party — believed by some to be out of touch with America's increasingly brown population — could certainly use a kick.

Just remember what happened the last time the RNC came to town:

Then chairman Michael Steele got bitch slapped over delegates' nearly $2,000 night at a sex-themed nightclub, Voyeur, not to mention criticism for the more than $15,000 charged to the RNC for luxury hotel rooms in and near Beverly Hills.

Welcome to L.A., old white people. Just avoid the nightlife. Gay, Latino and black folks are welcome at our (non-country) clubs. It's wild.
