A huge red ball on the streets of downtown? Is it a stray from Coachella? Did the beach just move east?

No, it's an art project from New York called RedBall. And it's here through Thursday:

Artist Kurt Perschke has been taking his one-story-plus inflatable ball around the world, with stops in Abu Dhabi, Tapei, Sydney, Barcelona and now L.A.

He states that he wants the project …

… to be a catalyst for new encounters within the everyday. Through the magnetic, playful, and charismatic nature of the RedBall the work is able to access the imagination embedded in all of us. On the surface, the experience seems to be about the ball itself as an object, but the true power of the project is what it can create for those who experience it. It opens a doorway to imagine what if?
