When it comes to electronic dance music, particularly the pulsating, futuristic rhythms of trance, L.A. clubs have been doing it up grand the past few years, with top-name turntablists and vibrant production and atmospheres. Sometimes, it’s been hard to choose between competing clubs — not to mention keep track of all the promoter drama and DJ alliances, most of which have swirled around Saturday nights. Drama-free and ready to make Friday nights just as hot, Club Red returns this week with formidable floor thumper George Acosta. The Miami madman is considered one of trance’s innovators, with high-energy beats that don’t quit. Known for his residency at South Beach’s famed Shadow Lounge, which he’s parlayed into production work and DJ gigs around the globe (as all the biggies do), Acosta promises to bring the heat with epic mixes that are aggressive and intense, yet sensual and melodic. Feel the love. Arena, 6655 Santa Monica Blvd., Hlywd.; Fri., Feb. 2, 9 p.m.-4 a.m.; over 21; (323) 692-3533.
