Woman and 14-Year-Old Boy Killed in Wrong-Way Accident near Saratoga Avenue

SAN JOSE, CA (September 4, 2024)Rebecca Olsen and a teenager were killed Monday afternoon, and Duncan McQuarrie was injured in a car accident on northbound Highway 85.

Police officers around 3:40 p.m., near Saratoga Avenue on August 26th.

Investigators say McQuarrie was driving a white Toyota Tacoma in the wrong direction on the freeway at high speeds. This led to a head-on collision with a Tesla driven by Olsen, who had a 14-year-old passenger.

Emergency responders pronounced 47-year-old Olsen and the teenage passenger dead at the scene. McQuarrie, of Orlando, Florida, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

After his discharge, authorities intend to recommend that the district attorney charge McQuarrie with felony manslaughter.
