60-Year-Old Man Dies in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Salida

SALIDA, CA (April 15, 2021) – Saturday morning on April 3, Raymond Wallace, 60, of Grover Beach, died while walking along Highway 99.

The incident occurred at around 2:25 a.m., just north of Kiernan Avenue. Emergency crews arrived to the scene shortly after.

Per reports, Wallace was struck by three drivers. They were later identified as Daisy Ojeda, 23, in a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Juel Alston, 59, in a 2021 Freightliner, and Richard Woodard, 47, in a 2006 Toyota.

Responding paramedics pronounced Raymond Wallace dead at the scene.

Highway 99 was closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. But, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.

At this time, the events leading up to the incident remain unclear. Although, the crash is still under active investigation.
