3 Injured in DUI Accident near Castillo Street

SANTA BARBARA, CA (September 21, 2022) – Early Friday morning, Ray Timothy Oberholzer was arrested after a DUI crash on 101 Freeway.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m., near the Castillo Street off-ramp.

According to reports, Oberholzer was driving a Ford sedan at high rates of speed when he attempted to exit the freeway. As he made a left turn onto northbound Castillo Street, he lost control and struck a large retaining wall.

Upon impact, Oberholzer and his front seat passenger sustained minor injuries. In addition, a rear seat passenger sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.

Following preliminary duties, officers arrested 25-year-old Ray Timothy Oberholzer for felony DUI causing injury.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, more information will be provided.
